Pendleton County Commission approves letter opposing Spruce Knob renaming resolution

Pendleton County Commissioners unanimously approved a letter of opposition to House Concurrent Resolution No. 33, a proposal to rename Spruce Knob, during their Feb. 18, 2025 meeting.
Commissioner Roger Dahmer read the letter during the session and moved for its approval. The motion passed with unanimous support from Commissioners Carl Hevener and Jimmie Bennett. The commission recommended sending the letter to the sponsors of the resolution as well as to Delegate Ward and Senators Robbie Morris and Hamilton.
The action followed a motion to add the letter of opposition to the meeting agenda earlier in the morning. The motion to add the item to the agenda also passed unanimously. The minutes do not show further debate in the meeting record about the substance of the letter.
