Council approves $15,000 allocation for July 4 parade security amendment

The Enumclaw City Council on June 22 approved Resolution No. 1881 to implement a previously-authorized $15,000 allocation for 4th of July parade security.
Parks Director Lina Hicks presented the staff report and explained the recommended breakdown for the $15,000: $8,500 for barriers to line the parade route, $2,500 to cover overtime for six additional city staff and $4,000 to be allocated to the Chamber of Commerce for hiring security and event staffing. "The funds have already been authorized by council. This would just kind of break up how we're going to spend it," Hicks said.
Council moved and seconded approval of the resolution; the motion passed by voice vote with no recorded opposition. The funds were described as reallocating previously-authorized funds rather than new spending authority.
The approval clears the way for the city and Chamber to finalize logistics for the July 4 parade, including barriers and additional staff coverage for public-safety needs along the route.
