The Lucas Local School District Board of Education unanimously appointed Eric Steward to fill the unexpired term of former board member Wayne Camp during a special meeting on July 23, 2024.
President Timothy Cooper moved to appoint Eric Steward; Mr. Roger Maglott seconded the motion. The board voted Yes: Mr. Cooper, Mr. Rick Foss, Mrs. Amy Cuthbertson and Mr. Maglott. The appointment followed an executive session called to consider candidates for the anticipated board opening.
The board convened the special meeting at 4:00 p.m. in the superintendent’s office and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. After roll call confirmed the presence of President Timothy Cooper, Mrs. Amy Cuthbertson, Mr. Rick Foss and Mr. Roger Maglott, the board adopted the meeting agenda on a motion by Amy Cuthbertson, seconded by Roger Maglott; the vote was unanimous.
At 4:02 p.m., the board moved into executive session "for the consideration of candidates for the anticipated Board opening." The board resumed regular session at 5:34 p.m., and the appointment of Steward was approved thereafter. The meeting adjourned at 5:38 p.m. on a motion by President Cooper, seconded by Mrs. Cuthbertson, with all members voting in the affirmative.
The meeting record includes a certificate under Section 5705.412 of the Revised Code stating that the Lucas Local School District Board of Education, Richland County, Ohio, has sufficient funds to meet the contract obligation and has authority to levy taxes necessary to provide operating revenues for the fiscal year. The certificate and meeting minutes are signed by President Timothy Cooper, Superintendent Bradley A. Herman and Treasurer Eric Pickering.
