Resident asks planning commission for update on Osteen Road feasibility study

Judy Osteen, a longtime Pasco County resident, asked the Planning Commission at its Feb. 19 meeting for an update on a feasibility study about opening Osteen Road between Massachusetts and Orchard Lake Road and asked whether any hearing would be held before or after adjustments are made.
"Is it gonna be before you do adjustments or after you do adjustments? We have been waiting to find out what you have decided," Osteen said, and added: "It's totally not appropriate to open a road and dump traffic into a subdivision that has 1 way in and 1 way out." She identified herself in the record and provided her New Port Richey address.
County staff and the county engineer told Osteen that the study was initiated at the request of the Board of County Commissioners, not the Planning Commission, and suggested she bring the question to the Board. The county engineer (speaker 2) offered to provide more information and directed Osteen to follow up with county engineering staff for details.
Staff did not place the Osteen Road study on the planning commission agenda and said there is no land-use application before the commission for that road; commissioners advised the resident to contact the Board of County Commissioners and county engineers for updates. The transcript records that staff and county engineering will follow up with Osteen after the meeting.
