Town proclaims Community Development Week and Fair Housing Month, appoints planning board member and readies CDBG RFPs

The Town of Union Board moved on several planning and economic development items at its March 18 meeting.
The board issued proclamations declaring April 12-18, 2026 as Community Development Week and April 2026 as Fair Housing Month. Councilman David Kudgus moved both motions and Councilman Joseph P. Nirchi Sr. seconded them.
The board also authorized the Planning Director to submit change-request forms to HUD's IDIS/Secured System to designate Comptroller Heidi Ranger as the town's Financial Point of Contact in the system.
In personnel and board business, the board adopted a prepared resolution appointing Joseph Rusin to the Planning Board to fill the unexpired term of Thomas Crowley through Dec. 31, 2030. The board also approved a resolution authorizing the Planning Director to advertise Requests for Proposals for FFY 2026-2027 CDBG Public Service Agencies; applications will be available beginning March 23, 2026 and accepted as established by the Planning Director, with accepted RFPs requiring Citizens Advisory Board and Town Board approval.
