Selectman's report: staffing changes, intersection work and emergency-notification proposal

As an interim step, Faith Sprigg will increase her hours by five per week; those additional hours are currently funded through ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) funds. The board said the Social Services Director position will be advertised at the end of the fiscal year and that a job description remains to be determined.
On infrastructure, the board reported that Phase 1 of the intersection project at Main Street and River Street is complete. Work will resume once asphalt plants reopen, and board members noted that new hurricane-resistant traffic lights will be installed as part of the project.
The board also reported it received a proposal for the Everbridge emergency notification system and said the neighboring Town of Lyme might be willing to join and split costs, which could reduce the town’s per-unit expense. Finally, the board said a fine schedule for zoning violations will be established and that a town meeting will be scheduled to address the matter.
