Dawes County Board of Equalization approves two-year extension for MidPoint Solar conditional use permit

The Dawes County Board of Equalization on Nov. 10, 2025 approved a two-year extension to a conditional use permit for MidPoint Solar after the county assessor presented the request and the project representative said more time may be needed.
Dawes County Assessor Lindy Coleman presented the conditional use permit during the board’s regular session in Chadron. Dallin Clements, representing MidPoint Solar, attended and answered questions about the project’s timeline; Clements said there is a possibility the company may request another extension in the future.
Commissioner Jake Stewart moved to grant a two-year extension of the conditional use permit, and Commissioner Walt Juhlin seconded. Chairman Vic Rivera, Juhlin and Stewart voted in favor; no board member voted against the motion, and it carried.
Earlier in the meeting the board unanimously accepted the agenda (motion by Commissioner Stewart, seconded by Juhlin) and then approved the minutes of Oct. 14 and Oct. 20, 2025 (motion by Stewart, seconded by Juhlin). On the minutes vote, Stewart and Juhlin voted yes and Chairman Rivera abstained.
The minutes record that there were no tax corrections to consider. Chairman Rivera adjourned the meeting at 9:07 a.m.; the board’s next meeting is scheduled for Dec. 9, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. according to the county clerk’s office.
