Council adopts administrative policies and agrees to post meeting recordings

The Decatur City Council approved several administrative items and directed staff on implementation steps.

Council also voted to adopt a social media policy requiring department heads to sign and file the policy; members set a target of obtaining signatures by the end of the month. Separately, council approved continuing payments for four event/party sites for an additional three months while staff work on security improvements and camera placement.

On transparency and meeting access, the council approved using existing board-room camera and microphone recordings for public posting. Members directed staff to post recordings to the city website within a week of meetings while a new website is developed and staff continue to gather quotes for longer-term broadcasting solutions.
