Engineering unveils interactive 'Project Update Map' to track St. Charles construction

The St. Charles Department of Engineering on Feb. 24 demonstrated a new interactive "Project Update Map" designed to provide residents with status updates, road-closure notices, timelines and anticipated completion dates for city construction and design projects.
Director of Engineering Dan Mann said the tool was developed by the Department of Engineering and the city's GIS Division in response to resident survey feedback about construction communication and quality. The map can be viewed in either map or tile format on the city's website under the Engineering tab. Mr. Mann encouraged councilmembers to share the resource with constituents seeking information about construction activity within the city.
The mayor also noted that the March city newsletter will highlight the 'Report a Pothole' program, which allows residents to submit a photo and location for potholes to the Public Works Department for repair. City officials said the map and pothole program are intended to improve transparency and responsiveness on road and infrastructure work.
Next steps: The map is live on the city website; councilmembers were asked to direct constituents to the resource.
