Emergency manager outlines RAVE migration, grant awards and LEPC changes

Jan 6, 2026

Emergency Manager LaRae Dobbs told commissioners Jan. 6 that a potential statewide move to the RAVE mass-notification system could save roughly $3,000 for comparable county systems but that migration/setup could cost about $4,000 if the state does not purchase; SHSP funding was approved for a Fairgrounds transfer switch and a separate jail generator grant was approved for $8,473 less than expected project costs.

The full story

Emergency Manager LaRae Dobbs briefed the Big Horn County Commission on Jan. 6 about several emergency-management items and grant awards. Dobbs said the state is considering a move to the RAVE mass-notification system and that participating counties could see cost savings; local migration would be free if the state purchases the platform but could require about $4,000 for migration, setup and training if the county must pay. Dobbs noted Motorola integration with RAVE as a benefit for county emergency equipment.
