Board approves leave requests, notes several coaching resignations

The Negaunee Public Schools Board on Nov. 24 approved multiple personnel items including teacher leave requests and noted several Schedule B resignations.
The board approved a leave request for Kaitlyn Augustine with an added amendment specifying the leave approval is non-binding and considered on an individual basis; the motion (Greg Toutant, supported by Dave Paananen) passed 7-0. Superintendent Andy Skewis said that Beth Koski, a second-grade teacher, will serve as substitute administrator in the Lakeview office during Augustine's leave, and that having a student teacher in Ms. Koski's classroom has helped maintain classroom consistency.
The board also approved leave requests for teachers Tiffanie Decker and Sabina Carlson by motion of Martin Saari, seconded by Amy Clickner (passed 7-0). Superintendent Skewis informed the board of Schedule B resignations from Faith Toutant (JV softball coach), BreAnna Dorhouer (assistant varsity volleyball coach), Krista Squiers (8th grade volleyball coach), and Amy Young (7th grade volleyball coach); the minutes note no board action was necessary on those resignations.
All personnel motions recorded in the minutes were approved unanimously. The board did not record further personnel deliberations.
