DRC approves two private docks with environmental conditions

The Alachua County Development Review Committee approved two final development plans and floodplain permits for private docks at its Feb. 19 meeting.
Planner Jacob South presented both proposals. The Wainwright Dock & Boathouse application proposed an 892‑square‑foot dock and boathouse (proposed enclosure width 30 feet, proposed total dock width 30 feet, proposed covered height 12 feet 10 inches). Staff recommended approval with conditions, including that the applicant obtain any required Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) permit or letter of consent and provide a copy to the Alachua County Environmental Protection Department prior to commencing construction, and that aquatic vegetation removal be prohibited without prior authorization.
The Anderson Dock & Boathouse application proposed an 814‑square‑foot dock with a 20‑foot proposed width and a covered area height of 14 feet; staff noted three conditions of approval (photo verification that existing docks on the parcel have been demolished prior to issuance of building permit, required FDEP permit/letter of consent provided to EPD, and prohibition on aquatic vegetation removal without prior authorization).
Both items received no public comment at their hearings and were approved by voice vote after motions to approve with conditions were made and seconded.
