The Montgomery County Council on May 4 decided to maintain the FY26 approach to cable‑fund distributions for FY27 while a proposed 22‑year contract update and supporting MOUs are finalized. The Government Operations committee had reviewed an executive proposal to consolidate community media services under a new entity (MCT) that would receive and distribute cable franchise revenues to Montgomery College, Montgomery County Public Schools, and community media operations.
