WPCA conditionally approves sewer service extension for Tree Club Road development

The Middletown Water Pollution Control Authority voted June 1 to approve a sanitary sewer‑service area extension to accommodate a proposed development on Tree Club Road, provided the applicant secures required planning and wetlands approvals and submits detailed drawings.
A member representing the applicant described the request as "to extend the sanitary sewer service area to incorporate his development on Tree Club Road, which will allow him to build," and staff said the Department of Environmental Protection had no objection provided the proposal did not increase density and required site plans and easement arrangements were completed. The board agreed the WPCA’s role is to recommend sewer availability and to forward the plan through planning and zoning and wetlands review.
The board recorded the motion with the stipulation that the applicant return with final drawings and a map; staff will attach the map to the meeting minutes. Members emphasized that planning and zoning approval, wetlands/inland wetlands conditions and any required easements must be secured before the sewer connection is finalized.
Next steps: The applicant will meet with the planning and zoning office and submit the requested drawings and wetlands documentation; staff will report back to the WPCA and include the map in the minutes.
