The Board of Education of the Reorganized School District R‑III of Clinton County adopted a combined tax rate of $4.8211 for the 2024–25 school year at a public meeting Sept. 25, setting an operating levy of $3.8211 and a debt service levy of $1.00.
Superintendent Dr. Sandy Steggall summarized reassessment effects and the Hancock Amendment context for property valuations, reviewed real estate and personal property valuations and noted new construction figures before recommending the levy levels. No members of the public spoke at the statutorily required tax‑rate hearing.
Greg Harris moved to set the operating levy at $3.8211 and the debt service levy at $1.00; Travis Day seconded. The motion passed unanimously, 7–0.
Board members previously approved routine agenda items and the consent agenda at the start of the meeting, which included minutes, personnel updates and a transfer of funds from Fund I to Fund II to cover a deficit. The board also recorded authority to hold a closed session under RSMo. 610.021 (subsections 1, 2, 3, 6, 13 and 14) as part of the consent agenda.
The adopted rate will be certified as required by state law. The board did not announce further public meetings on the tax rate during the session.
