Clinton Co. R-III board approves 2024–25 budget; projects reserves near 27%

The Clinton County R-III Board of Education unanimously approved the district’s 2024–25 budget at its Aug. 21 meeting after Superintendent Dr. Sandy Steggall reviewed the 2023–24 year-end financials.
Dr. Steggall said the district began the 2023–24 fiscal year with reserves of 33.49% and ended it at 37.3%. She told the board the 2024–25 budget reflects increases to the base salary schedule and raises for noncertified staff and projects an approximate year-end reserve of 27% for 2024–25. She also noted the district will hold its tax rate hearing in September rather than August.
Trustees voted 7-0 to adopt the budget document as presented. The consent agenda earlier in the meeting also included approval of August bills, a tuition-rate entry shown in the minutes with a corrupted figure (transcript: "$(,074.74)"), adoption of conflict-of-interest policies and approval of outside contracts including Cameron Regional Medical for athletic training and Summit Behavioral Services.
Board members discussed budget-related items briefly during the meeting; no amendments to the proposed budget were recorded in the minutes. The board’s approval means staff will proceed with the budget as presented and complete any procedural steps tied to the September tax-rate hearing.
