Brandy Lopez explained that negotiators used the deputy sheriff agreement as a template and modified terms for supervisory positions (sergeant and lieutenant), adding an employee-to-employee leave donation program, compensation for unused sick leave under outlined terms, increased longevity accrual tiers for long‑term employees, and a one‑year contract term to allow reassessment during future negotiations.
Comptroller Jennifer McCain provided a fiscal note: a 5% increase for sergeants and lieutenants to address compaction, longevity increases (from $600 to $1,000 every five years for milestone awards), and an estimated overall fiscal impact under $300,000.
Commissioner Mitchell moved to approve the agreement; the motion passed unanimously.
