Orchard View board approves MAISD budget, Safe Routes resolution and multiple personnel actions

The Orchard View Schools Board of Education voted to approve several routine and action items during its Committee of the Whole meeting on May 11, 2026.
The board approved the MAISD Budget Resolution on a motion by J. Taylor, supported by Leslie Nelson. The roll call vote was unanimous, with J. Taylor, C. Bankhead, Leslie Nelson, S. Horsly, J. Eggeman, Jack Wydeck and T. Joppie recorded as voting aye; the motion carried 7-0. The motion approved the MAISD budget resolution as presented.
The board next approved a list of out-of-state travel requests. Leslie Nelson moved to approve the travel as presented, Jack Wydeck supported the motion, and the measure carried 7-0.
On student disciplinary matters the board granted conditional permission for student HI251809J to walk at graduation provided the student passes all classes. The motion was made by C. Bankhead and supported by J. Taylor; the roll call vote was 7-0 in favor.
The board also rescheduled the matter concerning student HM251310G to Monday, May 28. J. Taylor made the motion, C. Bankhead supported it, and the roll call vote passed 6-1, with J. Eggeman recorded as the lone nay.
Finally, the board approved a Safe Routes to School Resolution to authorize use of district property for placement of sidewalks, on a motion by C. Bankhead supported by Leslie Nelson. The vote was unanimous, 7-0, and the motion carried.
All votes were taken by roll call. No other formal actions or amendments were recorded during the meeting. The board returned to open session at 8:53 p.m. following closed-session hearings and adjourned at 9:02 p.m.
