DuPage County committee approves multiple IT contracts, citing AI-related data growth and subscription alignment

DuPage County's Technology Committee on July 7 approved several information-technology contracts and received an informational software item, with committee members citing growing data needs linked to artificial intelligence and increased interagency use of software.

The committee approved a purchase order to CDW Government Inc. for data storage equipment covering July 14, 2026, through Nov. 30, 2026, for $47,925.76. Anthony McPherson, DuPage County chief information officer, told the committee the purchase responds to growing storage needs and defended quick approval, saying a prior quote for similar drives had been about $500,000 amid supply-chain pressures but the current opportunity had a much lower price and the county should "take advantage of it as quickly as possible." He added, "When we submitted, it was $35,000 per drive. Now it's down to $5,000 per drive," and said seven drives will be "enough for now," while warning future AI demands could increase needs.

The committee also approved a contract with Cara Company Inc. to manage the county's GPS/CORS sites, including operations, monitoring and software/firmware upgrades for GIS, for Oct. 1, 2026, through Sept. 30, 2027, at a total of $39,500. When asked if the cost had changed from last year, McPherson said it would be the same price.

Members approved a purchase order to monday.com LTD for work-management enterprise seats for 35 users for the period July 21, 2026, through Nov. 30, 2027, totaling $26,746.52. McPherson explained the apparent increase over prior years (he cited a prior cost around $16,000) by saying more county agencies are now using the platform, the vendor raised its price, and four months were added so the contract aligns (is coterminous) with DuPage County's fiscal year; he noted that aligning the contract to the fiscal year should make annual costs lower in future years.

As an informational item the committee received and filed a Justice Text Inc. contract for audio-visual evidence management software licenses for the public defender's office for the period July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, for an amount not to exceed $15,000; the item was described as not suitable for a competitive bid.
