Contracts awarded include sitework to Total Excavating & Grading; asphalt paving to Monarch Paving; athletic paving to Fisher Tracks, Inc.; landscape and irrigation to Winona Nursery; general construction (excluding alternate 5) to Hoeft Builders; aluminum, glass and glazing to Rice Lake Glass & Doors; ceilings and panels to Performance Contracting, Inc.; soft and hard flooring to Grazzini Floor; vinyl graphics and letters to Amplify; and fire protection to Summit Fire Protection. The Board also approved contracts for HVAC to Winona Controls, electrical to Hartung Electric and test & balance to Plug.
Board members said selecting the lowest responsible bidders will allow the district to move forward on the referendum scope. The Board recorded the awards as a single motion encompassing the individual work scopes; minutes show the motion carried but do not list individual roll-call tallies.
The awards come as the Finance Committee urged caution on discretionary purchases tied to the referendum. The Board subsequently tabled any decision on Phase II furniture purchases for the Middle/High School, saying staff should first receive construction cost estimates for the proposed bus-garage site before committing capital-improvement funds.
A community member who spoke during public participation had raised concerns about the proposed bus-garage location and suggested the district explore offering Driver's Education; the Board did not take a separate action on those suggestions during the meeting.
Next steps include contract execution and coordination between construction managers and district staff; the minutes do not specify contract start dates or detailed payment schedules.
