The Enumclaw City Council opened a public hearing May 26 on Ordinance 28-37, an amendment to the Enumclaw municipal code concerning the airport zoning district.
Senior planner Winston Larson told council the ordinance would reduce minimum side-yard setbacks in the airport zoning district from 20 feet to 10 feet and revise a footnote to allow structures up to 18 feet where the airport zone abuts residential property—this aligns accessory-structure heights with residential accessory standards. Larson noted the planning commission reviewed the amendment and voted to recommend approval on April 23, 2026. The staff report said the changes implement aspects of the city’s 2024 comprehensive plan and are intended to keep future development compatible with aviation operations and surrounding uses.
The mayor opened the floor for public comment; no members of the public spoke on the item and the mayor closed the hearing. Staff recommended giving the ordinance first reading and continuing review options including adoption as presented, rejection with further review, or adopting as amended.
