Resident proposes temporary Stryker Road closure; Selectmen back driveway-access plan during bridge work

Bryan O’Day told the Selectmen on Aug. 26 he has applied to the State for a driveway permit to serve as an access road to Stryker Road properties during a four-week culvert portion of an upcoming bridge project. O’Day said the full project will span 12 to 13 weeks, but only the culvert work will require closure or special access for about four weeks.
O’Day said the State indicated the driveway could be used as the access road if it is installed before the project begins and that, after the culvert work, the driveway would remain as his property’s permanent driveway. He reported he had discussed the plan with property owners and the Fire and Highway Departments, who all supported the solution. The Board agreed it was a good solution and offered support while state approval is pending.
The plan now awaits the State’s driveway-permit approval before being used as a temporary access route during construction.
