Tomah library trustees approve memorial tree and plaque for Velda Felton

Library Director Irma Keller reported that Jake Carmicheal, executor of the Felton trust, contacted several people about placing a memorial at the Tomah Public Library for Velda Felton and her husband. Keller told the board that a tree has already been purchased and the parks department will handle planting.

A motion to approve a memorial tree and plaque was made, seconded and carried by unanimous vote. Trustees discussed the appropriate type of plaque before adopting the motion; the transcript records only that the type of plaque was discussed, not the final plaque wording or design.

The board did not record individual votes or name the motion mover and seconder in the public minutes. The minutes state only that the motion carried by unanimous vote. The meeting later recessed into a closed session to discuss hiring and reconvened in open session the same evening.
