Residents urge action as board faces leadership turnover

Angela Bennett, another parent, said the district has a “troubling pattern of leadership turnover” that disrupts students and staff. She criticized the recent hiring process that favored an external candidate who resigned less than a year after assurances they would stay and asked the board what steps it will take to find a committed, long-term superintendent.
Several other community members spoke about hiring priorities and relationships between students and athletic staff. One parent urged the board to prioritize candidates who will maintain the relationships that keep some students engaged in school, and asked that gender not be presumed a reason for concern when hiring athletic directors.
The board accepted public comments and thanked speakers for attending. The discussion preceded formal action by the board later in the meeting to accept the treasurer’s resignation and to record the superintendent’s retirement (both items appear in the meeting record).
