Argyle ISD board gets progress reports on Gibson Middle School, turf replacements and bond projects

Jeff, the facilities presenter, said Gibson Middle School is nearing finish work: furniture deliveries began, flooring and marker boards are in place, millwork is installed and landscaping is close to completion. He noted the elevator is functional and that kitchen equipment has been unwrapped and cleaned ahead of health inspections.
Staff also reviewed district bond‑work across the 377 campus and other sites. Highlights included field turf replacement and track resurfacing done in phases to avoid interrupting practices and camps; ceiling demolition and exterior improvements at Hilltop and AMS; and ongoing GMP work with plans to bring guaranteed maximum price documentation to the July 13 board meeting for approval.
On transportation, staff said the Canyon Falls parking‑lot construction documents are complete but the project is still going through town review (multiple rounds of P&Z comments). For FM 407 improvements, staff described shoulder reconstruction and installation of traffic‑signal foundations; they expect the signal to flash in the first week of July before full operation.
A trustee asked whether new turf fields would carry individual school logos or a district logo; staff said the district will use a generic district stadium brand with options to add school names in end zones if desired.
Why it matters: these projects affect school openings, athletics scheduling and traffic patterns. Staff repeatedly linked timing to municipal approvals and inspections; several items are on track for fall openings or staged to preserve playing fields for winter sports.
Next steps: staff said they expect to return with GMP documents on July 13 and continue working with the town for parking‑lot permitting.
