Centre County prison board reviews operations, CentrePeace pay discussions

Warden Glenn Irwin reported at the June 11 Centre County Board of Inspectors meeting that the Centre County Correctional Facility received a books donation from the American Association of University Women and that an efficiency study was conducted June 7–9. The Warden said the facility has been discussing worker pay increases with CentrePeace, a community partner involved in work-release placements.
The facility’s population was reported at 133, including 99 people from Centre County—70 unsentenced, 23 sentenced and six state-sent—and 34 from tenant counties. Work-release enrollments were small: two people in private employment, none on facility grounds, and two placed through CentrePeace.
Barbara Squires presented the CentrePeace report to the Board, summarizing the program’s recent placements and partnership activities. The board’s conversation noted the overlap between CentrePeace placements and ongoing pay discussions but did not produce a formal directive or vote on pay on June 11.
The meeting also recorded that the monthly Efficiency Study took place the week before the meeting; no formal recommendations from that study were presented during the session. The board announced its next regular meeting for July 9, 2026, at 8 a.m.
