Public asks about Sam Willson case as Conservation Board vacancy becomes fillable

During public input at the Louisa County Board of Supervisors meeting on Jan. 7, resident Randy Foor asked whether a verdict had been reached in the Sam Willson case. Chair Shawn Maine replied he was not aware of any decision. Resident Bill Poggemiller asked whether the Conservation Board vacancy would be filled only after the Willson case was resolved; Maine said Willson’s Conservation Board term ended Dec. 31, 2024, and the board may fill the seat now.
Chair Maine also told the meeting that the Conservation Board is actively seeking applicants to fill the vacancy and that the county auditor will place another advertisement in the paper this week to solicit candidates. The minutes record these items under public input and the board member reports.
