Adell trustees approve snow-removal support, set hydrant replacement schedule

The Village of Adell Board of Trustees on Sept. 10 approved a motion authorizing village crews to open side streets for Sheboygan County plow trucks and to proceed with purchasing a new plow and salter for the village's one-ton pickup, trustees said.
The action — moved by Trustee Brian Parr and seconded by Trustee Leighton Holtz — passed unanimously by the six trustees present. The board also approved the Aug. 13 meeting minutes (motion by Trustee Eric Cline, seconded by Parr) and placed the financial report on file for audit and payment of bills (motion by Parr, seconded by Holtz); both motions carried with all voting in favor.
The items came during the Director of Public Works’ report. DPW Matt Risch told the board he will continue to seek a contractor to pig the sanitary force main that runs from Adell to Hingham. Risch also recommended using shared revenue dollars for crack sealing or chip sealing; the board postponed that decision until the Oct. 8 meeting.
On hydrants, Risch said, “It will cost the village approximately $7,000.00 to replace each hydrant in the village,” and proposed replacing one hydrant per year to spread costs over time. The board did not record a formal vote on the hydrant schedule at this meeting.
The board addressed an outstanding nuisance complaint as old business. Per the village attorney’s request, Risch arranged for the Cascade Police Department to deliver a seven-day notice to the homeowner for a second offense; the village will fine the property daily until cleanup is completed after that seven-day period, according to meeting minutes.
Building Inspector Max Uttech had no action items. President Andy Schmitt said the Plan Commission, Finance and Personnel Committee, and Streets and Parks Committee meetings will be scheduled soon. Jim Jentsch provided an update from the Onion River Wastewater Commission; no action was taken on that report.
Clerk/Treasurer Kelly Rathke reported no communications, and no public comments were heard. The board adjourned after a motion recorded in the minutes indicating all voting trustees approved.
