The Austin City Council on July 13 approved a slate of resolutions and ordinances updating labor, pay and portions of the city code.
Council adopted a resolution authorizing the 2026–2028 labor agreement with Law Enforcement Labor Services. The motion was moved and seconded and passed in roll call with councilmembers announcing “aye.”
The council also approved a revised 2026 salary range for a city administrative position; staff presented the adjustment and the council adopted the resolution by a recorded vote of 7–0.
Several code changes were advanced and adopted. The council approved an amendment to the dangerous‑animal appeal procedure (sec. 10.1) to clarify when hearing deposits are refundable, specifying refund eligibility only when the dangerous‑animal designation was not substantially justified by law. Council also approved clerical renumbering and updates to special‑assessment language (moving section 2.71 into the code chapter for assessments and extending the partial‑payment window through Oct. 31 of the adoption year) and adopted updates to chapter 5 to modernize brewer liquor licenses (removing the term “growler” and adding language covering brewer taprooms, pubs and off‑sale/Sunday off‑sale licenses).
Each of those items was moved, seconded and carried by voice vote during the meeting; the ordinance adoptions were accompanied by the council’s standard resolution-to-adopt steps.
