Mapleton Local board elects Mindy Scurlock president, Vince Hartzler vice president for 2025

At its Jan. 13 meeting the Mapleton Local School District Board elected Mindy Scurlock as president and Vince Hartzler as vice-president for 2025; both officers received their oaths and the board set its regular 2025 meeting schedule.
Mindy Scurlock was elected president of the Mapleton Local School District Board of Education during the board’s organizational meeting on Jan. 13, 2025. ShaNa Benner nominated Scurlock; the board closed nominations and carried the motion in a roll-call vote in which Scurlock abstained. Scurlock then received the Oath of Office.
Scurlock nominated Vince Hartzler for vice-president. The board closed nominations and approved Hartzler in a roll-call vote in which Hartzler abstained; he was subsequently given the Oath of Office.
The elections followed the board’s procedural rules for officer selection and were held near the start of the meeting at Mapleton High School/Middle School’s media center. Following the elections, the board voted to publish any 2025 meeting-date changes in the designated newspaper and to hold regularly scheduled monthly meetings at 4:30 p.m.
The election votes were recorded publicly: for president the roll-call read Kathy Goon, Yes; Vince Hartzler, Yes; ShaNa Benner, Yes; Fred Hartzler, Yes; Mindy Scurlock, Abstain (motion carried). For vice-president the roll-call read Fred Hartzler, Yes; Kathy Goon, Yes; ShaNa Benner, Yes; Vince Hartzler, Abstain; Mindy Scurlock, Yes (motion carried).
The board’s next regular meeting was scheduled for Feb. 10, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. at the Mapleton HS/MS Media Center.
