Assistant Director Shahad Mohammed told the council he had evaluated two options to improve safety and connectivity along Daniel Dale Road: (1) a lane-conversion road diet that would convert one travel lane to a dedicated bike lane with delineators (rough planning estimate about $3.8 million if sidewalks are left in place; $6.7 million if sidewalk replacement is included), and (2) a reconstruction option that narrows lane widths and adds a separated shared-use path with pavement work and a higher level of corridor transformation (rough planning estimate about $12.7 million).
