River Ridge board approves $105,000 AV-Tech radar-sign system for traffic calming

As part of the district's long-term plan for traffic calming, Operations Manager Shane Willis presented AV-Tech LLC proposals to install three remaining 15" solar-powered digital speed radar signs with cameras and messaging and a mobile unit. The combined estimates approved by the board totaled $105,000 and include annual cloud-device fees of $1,500 per device.

Eric Long, PSGRC general manager, suggested relocating an existing unit 20 to 30 yards to address a cluster of speeding incidents (the unit had recorded roughly 800 varied speeding violations over three weeks). Willis said the district will purchase poles from Paramount Asphalt at about $1,200 each to support relocated units. The board discussed PSGRC criteria for issuing warnings and fines and a suggestion that the HOA assume cloud-device costs, offsetting them with covenant traffic fine revenues.

On a motion by Bob Schultz and seconded by Kurt Blumenthal, the AV-Tech estimates (24150 and 24151) to wire and install three permanent and one mobile sign, with cloud-device fees and messaging, were approved unanimously.
