Dundy County clerk resigns; commissioners declare vacancy and plan hiring process

Chairman Sye Tecker moved and the board unanimously accepted the resignation of County Clerk Mary Seybold and declared the clerk’s position vacant.

County Attorney Arlan Wine told the board it could directly appoint someone to finish the term but said the Accountability and Disclosure Commission recommends proceeding through a thorough hiring process. The board said it will publish the vacancy in the newspaper and proceed with interviews as outlined at the meeting. The transcript records that interviews are to take place on June 20, 2026; the board did not further clarify the scheduling during the meeting.

Commissioner Tom Richard seconded the resignation motion, which passed by unanimous vote. The board designated Deputy Clerk Christina Collier as the county’s successor contact person for its insurance provider, NIRMA, while the clerk position is vacant.

The board did not appoint a replacement at the meeting and gave direction to publish the vacancy and begin the recruitment and interview process. The board scheduled no further personnel action at this session.
