Coolidge council approves Flock agreement; votes not to table Solid Waste Fee though final approval not recorded

The City of Coolidge council approved a Flock agreement during its Oct. 28 meeting and, after competing motions and several abstentions, voted not to table further consideration of a proposed Solid Waste Fee.

Under the finance report the council approved the Flock agreement. Council member Melissa Johnson made the motion and Monica Harper seconded; the minutes record the agreement as unanimously approved.

The Solid Waste Fee drew divided procedural votes. Council member Melissa Johnson first moved to table consideration; Monica Harper seconded. The minutes record Tonia Gentry and Elizabeth Leger as abstaining on that motion. Mayor Diane H. Causey then moved to not table the item, with Tonia Gentry seconding. The record shows Elizabeth Leger voted aye on the motion to not table while Melissa Johnson and Monica Harper abstained. The minutes state the motion "to not table" carried with the deciding vote from Mayor Causey; the transcript does not record a subsequent roll-call or final approval vote on the fee itself.

Separately, the council moved to table a proposal to change the property tax due date to Dec. 31, 2025. That motion was made by Melissa Johnson, seconded by Tonia Gentry, and recorded in the minutes as approved.

Causey, City Manager Lonnie Adamson, Assistant City Clerk Alisha Bass and City Attorney Kyle Swann among those present; one attendance line spells the mayor's name as "Cauley," but the minutes identify her earlier as Diane H. Causey.
