Board says updated ADA transition plan unanimously approved by supervisors

The Lower Makefield Township Disability Advisory Board said the township Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the board’s updated Americans with Disabilities Act transition plan after a brief presentation at a recent supervisors meeting.
Chair Lisa Hoechler told the board that she and board member Abby Yates answered supervisors’ questions about the updated plan and that the supervisors gave unanimous approval. The board had previously reviewed and approved the update and Parks & Recreation had also recommended it.
The approval formalizes changes the board and Parks & Recreation made to the transition plan, which officials said will guide accessibility work across parks and township facilities. Board members said they expect the plan to shape coming projects such as playground improvements, boardwalk extensions and signage.
At the June 10 meeting, board members discussed how the approved plan intersects with ongoing projects and asked township staff to include the disability advisory board early when new building or park plans are submitted so the board can review accessibility elements.
The board did not vote on new policy at the meeting; its next stated steps were to review project plans as they come through planning and to follow up with Parks & Recreation on implementation timing. The board set its next meeting for Aug. 12, 2026.
