Labette County commissioners approve routine business, courthouse closures and expand Planning Board

The Labette County Board of Commissioners handled routine administrative business on Sept. 8, approving a series of motions by unanimous vote.

Commissioner Tom Barrett moved to approve the minutes of Aug. 29, 2025; Terry Weidert seconded and the motion passed. The board authorized an Appraiser’s Parcel Search Agreement with Frontier Farm Credit (fee of $225 paid). The commissioners also approved accounts payable check numbers 38348 through 38438 totaling $203,491.80.

The board authorized two courthouse closures: a one-hour closure from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. for the annual holiday dinner and a closure to the public on Oct. 13, 2025, for the annual employee health fair; both motions passed unanimously. Commissioners also approved purchasing four Firestone Highway tires for the courthouse Impala for $567.92.

In governance business, the board authorized commission signatures on Resolution 2025-37-L to amend Resolution 2010-11-L and increase the Planning Board to seven members; the motion passed 3-0.
