The Appling County Board of Commissioners unanimously appointed Mike Deal as interim county manager at a called meeting on April 13, 2022. Vice Chairman Doug Harris opened the meeting and asked whether any commissioner had information that would prevent the appointment; none did. Commissioner Sarah Boatright moved to name Mike Deal interim county manager through the first meeting in October; Commissioner Charlie Leggett seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
