Maries R-1 accepts three resignations and hires two teachers for next school year

The Maries R-1 School Board accepted three resignations and approved two new hires during its March 31 meeting.
The resignations accepted with regret were: Beth Edwards (paraprofessional), Lesley Cremer (high school biology teacher) and Sharlene Hallett (HS/MS assistant basketball coach). Each letter of resignation was read into the record and accepted by unanimous vote.
For hires, Tim Metcalf requested approval to hire Malinda Mathews as the high school math teacher for 2026–2027; Jacob Hallahan moved and Lori Hayes seconded the hire, and the motion passed 5-0. Shanda Snodgrass requested approval to hire Tabitha Hunder as an elementary teacher for 2026–2027; Matt Novak moved and Lori Hayes seconded, and that motion also passed 5-0.
The board recorded no conditions or amendments to the hires in the minutes.
