Nelson Select Board approves routine minutes, authorizes chipper work and building permit

At its Aug. 6 meeting the Town of Nelson Select Board approved routine minutes and financial manifests and authorized maintenance and budget items.
Selectman Michael Blaudschun moved to approve the Selectmen’s meeting minutes for July 23, 2025 and the manifests for July 30 and Aug. 6, 2025; Chair Brenna Kucinski seconded and both motions carried 3-0. Blaudschun later moved to approve a $3,000 purchase request from the Highway Department to sand blast and paint the department’s chipper; Kucinski seconded and the motion carried 3-0.
Edie Drinkwater, the administrative assistant, reported receipt of a $847.50 check from the New Hampshire Division of Forests & Lands under a 50/50 grant designated for forest fire fighting equipment. After being informed that the Zoning Board of Adjustment had granted a road-setback variance, the board approved a building permit for T. & M. Haak‑Frendscho to construct a garage/workshop; that motion, made by Blaudschun and seconded by Kucinski, also carried 3-0.
Blaudschun moved to add $1,850 to the Social Services warrant article for 2026 to fund the Child Advocacy Center of Cheshire County, the same amount as the prior year; Kucinski seconded and the motion carried 3-0.
The board acknowledged a thank-you note from Kathy and Duane Schillemat for emergency services provided by the Nelson Fire Department. The meeting adjourned at 4:00 PM; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 20, 2025, at 3:00 PM.
