Town seeks water‑system analysis after pump replacement; hydrology concerns raised

Town Manager Matt Spuck told the council Oct. 28 that Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc. (DBF) will evaluate whether the town's water infrastructure can support new homes once a replacement pump for well #9 is installed.
Spuck said Bundick Well and Pump has ordered the new pump; after installation DBF will complete a desktop analysis of system capacity. The town did not authorize capital spending at the meeting but identified the analysis as a next step before approving growth that would rely on town water.
Resident Rosemary Paparo said a hydrologic review is necessary to assess possible saltwater intrusion risks if development occurs outside the town limits; Councilmember Maphis Oswald later stated he believes the town is safe from saltwater intrusion. No hydrologist was retained at the meeting and no formal study was approved.
What’s next: Town staff will coordinate with Bundick Well and Pump on the well #9 work and accept DBF’s desktop analysis when available; any recommendations will return to the council for potential action.
