Greenspace Committee to focus consultant search on lakefront after RFP nonresponse

Karen Horwitz, a member of the Greenspace Committee, reported that the Smith Group did not respond to the committee’s request for proposals and said the committee believed the firm's nonresponse was more likely due to the village’s small size than to lack of resources.

The committee agreed not to reissue a modified RFP. Instead, members decided to narrow the search and focus consultant outreach on the village lakefront as the primary project scope. Rocco Castellano, a committee member, said meeting candidates in person with an emphasis on lakefront work would streamline the selection process.

The group identified immediate next steps: select a short list of candidate consultants to meet directly with the committee, define the lakefront project scope to guide those conversations, and fix meeting dates and times. The committee scheduled its next meeting for Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 5:30 p.m. in Village Hall.

No formal vote or ordinance was recorded in the minutes; the decision to focus the search and to meet candidates was recorded as the committee’s agreed course of action.
