Hunt County dissolves centralized road crew and reallocates staff, equipment to precincts

Jul 14, 2026

Facing long-term vacancies and to improve operational coverage, the court approved immediately dissolving the county road crew and reassigning three employees and equipment to precincts, with payroll and budget transfers to be finalized administratively.

The full story

Commissioners discussed an operational reorganization that would dissolve the centralized county road crew and move personnel and equipment into precinct operations. The change follows prolonged vacancy in multiple road-crew positions and managers' need to fill precinct-level openings. Under the court motion, one road-crew employee will be reassigned to Precinct 1, two to Precinct 3, and specific equipment redistributed (long-base dump truck to Precinct 3; short-base dump to Precinct 4; excavator and tools to Precinct 1; a 2500 pickup to Precinct 3; and compressors, toolboxes and a fuel tank to Precinct 2).
