Hunt County dissolves centralized road crew and reallocates staff, equipment to precincts

Under the court motion, one road-crew employee will be reassigned to Precinct 1, two to Precinct 3, and specific equipment redistributed (long-base dump truck to Precinct 3; short-base dump to Precinct 4; excavator and tools to Precinct 1; a 2500 pickup to Precinct 3; and compressors, toolboxes and a fuel tank to Precinct 2).
Commissioners stressed that no current road-crew employees would be terminated; HR and payroll were directed to process the transfers immediately with administrative line-item transfers and budget amendments to follow at the next meeting if necessary. The court approved the reassignments and equipment reallocations by unanimous voice vote and directed staff to verify budget balances and process payroll/personnel paperwork with an effective date immediate.
The court also noted the reallocation would reduce the centralized road-crew operating budget (estimated savings about $331,000) and fold those responsibilities and equipment costs into precinct budgets going forward.
