HR director: new treasurer hire, time-clock and workers’ compensation training planned

Crystal Nachos, the county HR director, gave a brief personnel update to the commission noting she participated in interviews to replace Jay Hall and said she believed the committee "agreed on the applicant" though she could not confirm whether an offer had been made. She reported a new hire in the treasurer's office and said the employee task force confirmed an employee training date of Sept. 21.

Nachos said the county would provide time-clock and workers' compensation training at the sheriff's office so employees and supervisors understand how to clock in and how to report injuries: "I'll be updating on workers' compensation so that they know what's expected, when they're supposed to report it, how they're supposed to report it," she said. She added the county will reopen the Road & Bridge assistant supervisor position after the recent applicant accepted a closer-to-home offer.

She also noted a planned backpack fundraiser around the start of school and said the tentative August date could change because it may fall on the first day of school for some families. Commissioners asked to be kept informed about recruitment timelines and agreed to coordinate posting and website access for agendas and resolutions.

The HR update concluded without formal action; staff will proceed with recruitment and training logistics and report back to the commission.
