Lynn Baccaro of Great Bay NERR contacted the Newfields Conservation Commission seeking the Commission’s advice and support for two salt‑marsh restoration projects: Chapman’s Landing Marsh in Stratham and Lubberland Creek Preserve Marsh in Newmarket.
Baccaro requested input and asked whether Commission members would participate in a site visit and planning meeting scheduled for April 16. The Commission expressed willingness to support the projects; T. Rettburg said she will attend the April 16 marsh trips. J. Lent noted the Commission has been discussing subcommittees and suggested a marsh subcommittee could help coordinate volunteer and school involvement. Members discussed using funds to mail postcards to residents to raise awareness and said inviting Baccaro to present at a future meeting would be helpful.
No formal vote was recorded; the Commission indicated support in principle and identified staff and members to follow up on site visits and outreach.
