Township approves sidewalk pay request, park ADA changes and county‑assisted fire‑services study

The West Lampeter Township Board on June 8 approved several infrastructure and administrative items. Supervisors authorized Pay Request #2 to Doug Lamb Construction for $166,680 for the Village Road curb and sidewalk project; the contractor is roughly two weeks behind schedule with a new completion target of July 9, 2026.
The board directed ELA Group to prepare final construction plans for Willow Street Pyfer Park and approved an estimated $18,000 change order to incorporate ADA‑accessible pathway revisions and other modifications. That motion to allow ELA to modify the plans passed 4–1, with Supervisor Barry Hershey voting no.
Separately, the Board approved a Letter of Understanding with the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to begin a Fire Services Study to evaluate operations, staffing, funding and governance of the Township's two volunteer fire companies. Manager Rebecca S. Denlinger said the study will include data collection, consultant review, and preparation of findings and recommendations and is expected to be completed by the end of calendar year 2026. That motion also passed 4–1 (Hershey opposed, citing concern the board might not follow recommendations).
Chair Randy Moyer and Manager Denlinger noted Lancaster County will distribute 2027 reassessment notices in the coming weeks; the township will post county guidance on its website. The Board accepted the FY2027 Budget Planning Calendar and announced upcoming community events and outreach opportunities.
