Council approves temporary liquor licenses and awards 2025 curb-and-sidewalk contract

Licenses: On the recommendation of the License Committee the council approved a temporary extension to Leisure Lanes Inc.'s licensed premises to permit a roped-off outdoor beer garden south of the building at 2308 6th Ave. The council also approved a temporary Class B wine and fermented malt beverage license for the Monroe Theatre Guild to allow alcohol sales inside the theatre for its April 2025 games-night performances. Both license resolutions were moved and approved unanimously.
Public works contract: Acting on a recommendation from the Board of Public Works, the council approved awarding the 2025 curb, gutter and sidewalk construction contract to JW Short (construction). The contract authorization and execution were approved; the transcript contains a garbled statement of the base cost as spoken in the meeting, so staff will provide the official contract amount and paperwork for the record.
