Land Board authorizes scoping and rulemaking after public comment from ranching and conservation groups
The Board approved a request to initiate scoping and a separate request to initiate rulemaking after public comments were offered by representatives of the Montana Stock Growers Association and American Prairie; both motions passed unanimously at the April 20, 2026 meeting.

At its April 20, 2026 session, the Board of Land Commissioners voted to initiate scoping (item 0426-5) and to initiate rulemaking (item 0426-6). DNRC Director Amanda Kaster presented both items and public comment was recorded for each.
