The Town of Lysander Planning Board on June 11 approved a Controlled Site Use amendment allowing a 40‑foot storage container at the Cold Springs Solar project, to be used for spare solar panels, racking components and maintenance parts.
The applicant told the board the container will not house hazardous materials, batteries or electrical equipment, and that it will be sited near the center of the array to minimize visibility from neighboring properties. Board members noted the container’s visual impact would be limited because it will be surrounded by solar arrays but reminded the applicant that a permanent container requires Planning Board approval through a site plan amendment.
The board issued a resolution approving the placement of the 40' x 6' x 8' storage container on property at 3400 Cold Springs Road (Tax Map No. 064‑03‑02.1), conditioned on payment of any outstanding fees prior to issuance of a building permit. The motion passed 4–0.
Next steps: Applicant must pay outstanding fees and proceed with the site plan amendment process as required by town procedures.
