Juneau library reports programs, maintenance needs and staff change

Library Director Connie Schuett reported March 11 that circulation and monthly statistics were shared with trustees and summarized current services and programs, including 'Feed the Birds,' Lego Lab, 'Blind Date' and a '6‑7' display. She said she is preparing a sponsorship letter to secure funds for the summer program and will attend a director's workshop next week paid for by a DPI grant.
The minutes record several facility items: preventive maintenance on the boiler and preparation for air‑conditioning use were completed by "J & H" (the minutes use initials and do not spell out the individuals), entry doors were adjusted to close a vertical gap though tension still needs adjustment, and new toilet‑paper dispensers were ordered. Schuett said the library parking lot needs resurfacing or repair and that trustees are investigating cost estimates.
The minutes also record a personnel change: a library page submitted a resignation effective Feb. 28, 2026. The board offered the position to another candidate from the original interview pool; the minutes state the new hire should start at the end of the month pending completion of paperwork at City Hall.
Trustees approved routine meeting items earlier in the session, including payment of bills and prior meeting minutes. The board will next meet April 8, 2026, at 5 p.m.
